Graphics Design, Photography, and More

Besides offering basic picture scanning services (the limit of many Web Designers). We have the experience and tools required to "clean Up" and "format" pictures so they present well, and download from the Web, in the shortest possible times. We also take the extra steps necessary to stabilize the colors so those (a large number of viewers) with older monitors, or monitors set at 256 colors, get the best results in quality no matter what resolution they are viewing at.

If you are considering a web site, let us review what you currently have for photographs before you consider hiring a photographer to take new pictures, and prior to having a local lab convert your photographs into digital format. If we build your web site, it's usually less expensive for you, and we get better results (or another chance), if we do our own scanning and photo clean up.

For local clients, we also offer digital photography services which you may contract by the photo, by the hours, or by the job. You retain all rights to the finished photographs to use as you see fit.

We've selected a few sample graphics below for you to look at, but please take the time to view some of the Web Sites we've built from our "Portfolio of Work" Page for a larger selection.

On most commercial Web Sites, a simple background or no background at all will suffice for the client or the business. However adding a quality background image greatly enhances specialty business and organization web sites.
Examples being:
  1. Water - On a Charter Fishing Site
  2. Grass - On a Golf Course Site
  3. Old Navigational Charts - On A Shipwreck Site
  4. Flame - On A Fire Department Site
  5. Parchment & Lace - On a Wedding Site
And in the example shown above.
  6. Eagles & Osprey - On a Vacation Rental Site which overlooks an Estuary

A multi-layered Image, allows you to do things that you can't take a picture of. In the example above we took a black and white map, and another multi-layered image we created (the golf course Crest) on which we lowered the opacity so that map could be seen without interference. We then took the golf course layout, resized it to the approximate dimensions and orientated it to its correct position on the map. We then added color to the map and textured the Pacific Ocean to give it the appearance of water.

The same thing can be done with photographs. You've seen on Television, and in Magazine Advertisements. We can save the entire project or save everything in their individual parts. In the above example, the Crest was saved for use as a color watermark on checks and stationary. The files can be saved in whatever format needed for your companies printing needs.

This animated fire truck was one of our first ever animations, but is still a favorite of ours and the antique fire truck collectors who visit the site it is on.

An animation is a series of photographs or drawings (hopefully the same size), that change in order, at defined timed intervals, which are set when the image is stitched together. Much like the "Flip" books of our childhood, the trick is to make the movements large enough so things happen, but small enough, that the image is not jerky.

Since these are saved in ".GIF format" and are in fact multiple images, care must be taken to watch file sizes. For this reason animations are best suited for limited color drawings rather than actual pictures; although small picture animations can work well.

Logos, can fall under one or more of the above categories. The one shown "Maryland Fire Chiefs Association" was created with multi-part images rather than multi-layered. Each image was created then individual images were brought together on top of each other rather than within each other to create the animation. Though the base image and the initial sphere were rather simple to make, making a three dimensional image from a two dimensional image, (the flag into a globe) took quite allot of work.

If your company or organization already has a logo, it may still require some formatting to work well on the Web, and will require formatting for transparency if you wish to overlay it on a background image. In this case, a copy of the original digital file, or a camera ready copy of the image works best saving you clean up costs.

If your company or organization needs a logo, let us know what you are looking for and we'll be happy to help you out. If what you need is too elaborate for us, there are many very fine artists in our area for us to direct you to. Please call if you have questions.
