Answers To Commonly Asked Questions

Q. What exactly is "Web Hosting" and why do I need it?
A. Web Hosting is a place (or a Web Server to be more exact) to put your Web Site to make it available to anyone on the Internet 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with enough infrastructure to allow for high volumes of traffic at any given time. Major companies and corporations own and maintain their own Servers, while the majority of others lease or rent Server space.

The best analogy I've come up with is "office space". You can rent office space in the Empire State Building, which in turn can handle large amounts of foot traffic, and they take care of the maintenance required to keep the building in top shape. Or, you can purchase your own building which most likely will not be able to support the same amount of foot traffic, and you, now your own landlord are responsible for all maintenance and other related costs to keep it in top shape.

Q. I get free Web Hosting on my dial-up server. Can I use this for my companies Web Page?
A. It may be possible to do so, but is it really practical? Most ISP's allow their dial-up customers Web Space for "Personal" use only. Commercial Use, usually requires hosting fees just as you would pay here.

Q. If I can get Web Hosting on the Server I use for dial-up access, why would I use your service?
A. If you contract with us to build or maintain your Web Site, the advantages of hosting it here are far superior to hosting elsewhere. If something goes wrong with our server we know it as we host our own Web Site on the same server as yours. There are no charges for uploading and testing of your Web Site on our server, as that is where we build it. And finally if we need to make adjustments on the server to allow for special applications to run on your Web Site, we do that ourselves. You aren't paying for our time on the phone, with conversations to your ISP's technical support person for modifications.

Q. Well then, what about GeoCities, Yahoo, or others that allow free commercial Web Site Hosting?
A. As the old adage goes. You get what you pay for! If you don't mind all the advertising for every other business on your Web Site (possibly even your competitor), pop up ads with every new page you open, and more. Give it a try. But please don't ask us to build your Web Site for you!

Q. Do I have access to my Web Site Directory?
A. On Virtual Hosting the answer is yes. You have full access with your username and password to your FTP directory where your Web Site resides, as well as CGI bin and more if these options are active on your Hosting Account.

Q. How much does Hosting Cost, and what are the payment arrangements?
A. The current Hosting Fees can be found by "Clicking Here" while the payment arrangements can be found by "Clicking Here".
